STOP DYNAMIC WRINKLES
IN THEIR TRACKS

Let’s face it. The typical “luxury” medical spa experience leaves a lot to be desired.

That’s because for all their talk of pampering, most med spas are set up more like dentist offices or strip mall massage parlors than anything close to true luxury.

At Sculpt AZ Medical Aesthetics, we strive to offer the best Botox Phoenix has to offer and we know that true luxury means living up to certain expectations of quality. Whether it is our look, the way we feel, or the way we are treated, luxury means raising the bar, and then raising it again. To that end, we have created a new breed of med spa: experiential aesthetics.

WHAT IS BOTOX?

Wrinkles are often identified based on what causes them. For example, dynamic wrinkles appear due to the repetition of specific movements, while static wrinkles result from gravity and other factors.

Dermal fillers are an effective solution to static wrinkles, but they do little for dynamic wrinkles. Botox is an injectable neuromodulator that partially and temporarily paralyzes muscles where it’s injected. As a result, Botox can prevent or reverse wrinkles caused by repeated facial expressions such as smiling, squinting, or frowning. As Botox stifles these movements, the skin naturally tightens, and fine lines become smooth.

WHAT DOES BOTOX DO?

BOTOX is a purified protein that temporarily relaxes the muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles. This FDA-approved treatment can temporarily smooth the appearance of dynamic wrinkles.

While Botox will not completely eliminate all wrinkles, it can noticeably reduce their appearance for up to six months at a time. One of the best parts of Botox is that it's a non-surgical rejuvenation option with little to no downtime. You can typically return to your normal activities immediately after your treatment.

HOW DO WRINKLES FORM?

Dynamic wrinkles are different from wrinkles caused by sun damage or the loss of collagen and elastin in your skin, which we call static wrinkles. Static wrinkles are visible even when your face is at rest.

Dynamic wrinkles are those that appear when you make facial expressions, like frowning or squinting. Because Botox blocks the nerve signals that tell your muscles to contract, it can help smooth out these types of wrinkles.

WHAT AREAS CAN BE TREATED WITH BOTOX?

Botox is most commonly used to treat crow's feet, forehead wrinkles, and frown lines (also referred to as 11s). It can also be used to help lift the brow, which can give you a more youthful appearance. Botox can be used to treat a variety of areas on the face, including:

  • Forehead wrinkles
  • Frown lines between the eyebrows (11s)
  • Crow's feet
  • Smoker's lines around the mouth
  • Bunny lines on the nose
  • Chin creases
  • Neckbands

BOTOX VS. FILLERS

While Botox and fillers both fall under the injectable aesthetics category, they are two very different treatments.

Botox is a neuromodulator that works by temporarily paralyzing the muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles. Fillers, on the other hand, are used to plump up areas of the face that have lost volume. One of the main benefits of Botox is that it is a non-surgical option with little to no downtime. Fillers, on the other hand, are a more invasive treatment that often requires several days of recovery.

HOW TO KNOW WHICH ONE IS FOR YOU?

The best way to determine which injectable treatment is right for you is to consult with a board-certified aesthetician. During your consultation, your aesthetician will assess your individual needs and recommend the best course of treatment.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF BOTOX?

The appearance of wrinkles in the face can cause you to look tired or older than you feel and ultimately affect your self-image. So often, when we look younger, we feel younger. Botox can restore your appearance of youth with short, minimally invasive treatment and no recovery period or downtime so that you can live life on your terms.

Botox effectively erases and prevents fine lines and wrinkles and is commonly used to treat forehead lines, frown lines, crow's feet, and areas around the mouth. In addition to smoothing wrinkles, the skin tightening caused by Botox treatment also creates a lifting effect. This is especially apparent in the brow area following forehead and glabellar injections.

BOTOX PROVIDES NUMEROUS BENEFITS FOR SEVERAL REASONS AND AREAS:

  • Face: Eliminates or dramatically reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, creating a more youthful appearance.
  • Lips: Reduces the appearance of smoker's lines around the mouth.
  • Neck: Reduces or eliminates the appearance of "tech neck," which is caused by looking down at phone and other screens.
  • Hands: Reduces the appearance of age spots and wrinkles.
  • Body: Reduces the appearance of axillary hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating.
  • Skin: Tightens the skin, improves elasticity, and provides a lifting effect.
  • Medical conditions like TMJ, migraines, and excessive sweating: Botox can relieve these conditions by temporarily paralyzing the muscles causing the issue.
  • Emotional well-being: The self-confidence that comes with looking and feeling your best can lead to increased happiness and satisfaction in all areas of your life.

YOUR BOTOX INJECTION PROCEDURE

When you arrive at Sculpt AZ Medical Aesthetics for your Phoenix Botox treatment, you will be warmly welcomed by a member of our team and invited into one of our private treatment areas.

Botox treatment is tolerable since the needle is tiny, but your providing specialist can apply a numbing cream to the treatment area if desired. Once your skin is clean and prepped, your specialist will begin the injection process. You will experience a pinching sensation upon each injection, but discomfort is minimal and resolves very quickly. The exact number of injections you need will depend on your specific concerns, but treatment typically takes less than 15 minutes.

YOUR BOTOX INJECTION RECOVERY

Recovery after Botox is minimal, and no downtime is needed so you can return to work or other regular activities as soon as you leave our office. However, there are some things you can do to maximize your Botox results.

Immediately after your treatment, it is a good idea to move the treated muscles. This action will help the Botox solution to settle where it is needed. Rubbing the area around the injection sites, strenuous exercise in the first 24 hours, or lying down within four hours of treatment can all cause your Botox to migrate away from the target area. It is also essential to avoid alcohol, blood thinners, and sun exposure for the first 24 hours after treatment.

YOUR BOTOX RESULTS

You are likely to notice a difference in the treated area within just a few days of your Botox treatment. However, your full results will appear in one to two weeks. Most of our Phoenix Botox patients maintain their results with regular treatments spaced about three months apart.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do Botox injections hurt?

Because the needle used to inject Botox is very small, discomfort is minimal. You will experience a pinching sensation with each injection, but treatment is very tolerable for most patients. However, if you are concerned about discomfort during your treatment, your specialist can apply a numbing cream before your injections begin.

How long does Botox last?

The results of your Botox injections will last about three to six months. After that time, the treated muscles will gradually return to their previous state. However, you can prolong your results by getting regular treatments every few months.

What is the cost?

The price of Botox varies according to the number of units needed to treat each patient’s individual concerns. However, on average, most patients pay about $500 per treatment.

How do I prepare for my treatment?

You should avoid taking blood-thinning medications, such as aspirin or ibuprofen, for at least two weeks before your treatment. You should also avoid alcohol for 24 hours before and after your injections. These precautions will help minimize the risk of bruising or bleeding at the injection site.

Does insurance cover Botox treatment?

As a cosmetic treatment, insurance does not cover Botox treatment. However, Botox also has medical applications that may be eligible for coverage by your provider.

How long does Botox take to work?

You will likely notice a difference in the treated area within just a few days of your Botox treatment. However, your full results will appear in one to two weeks. Most patients maintain their results with regular treatments spaced about three months apart.

What are some related treatments to Botox?

Botox is often used alongside other anti-aging treatments to address various signs of aging throughout the face. While Botox minimizes and prevents dynamic wrinkles, dermal fillers and Exilis Ultra 360 treatment can treat static wrinkles, volume loss, and skin laxity for a more youthful appearance overall.

  • Dermal Fillers - As we age, our skin loses collagen and elastin, leading to static wrinkles. Dermal fillers are injected beneath the skin to plump up these wrinkles from the inside out for a smooth, youthful appearance.
  • Exilis Ultra 360 - A cutting-edge treatment that uses radiofrequency and ultrasound energy to tighten skin and improve its overall appearance. This treatment can be used on the face, neck, and body for a comprehensive approach to anti-aging.
Can someone tell I have Botox?

Botox will produce subtle, natural-looking results when injected by a skilled specialist. After your treatment, you may have some slight swelling and bruising, but this will quickly dissipate. Your friends and family may comment that you look rested and refreshed, but they should not be able to tell that you've had any work done.

What are the risks of Botox?

Botox is generally safe with minimal side effects. However, some temporary conditions may occur after treatment, including flu-like symptoms, headache, drooping eyelids, pain, swelling, or bruising near injection sites. Although this is rare, Botox can potentially spread to other parts of the body and cause more severe problems. You should call your doctor right away if you experience any muscle weakness, loss of bladder control, vision changes, or trouble breathing, speaking, or swallowing.

Are there any side effects of Botox?

Some patients may experience temporary side effects after their treatment, including headaches, bruising, swelling, and pain at injection sites. These side effects usually resolve on their own within a few days. More serious side effects are rare but can include drooping eyelids, loss of bladder control, and difficulty breathing or swallowing. If you experience any of these side effects, you should call your doctor right away.
